Frankie Broyles - Color Set

With only demos floating around Frankie has caught my attention at the right time, with Mac DeMarco’s 2 getting a ton of play and obsession this year along with Lotus Plaza’s Spooky Action at a Distance getting a fair amount of play. Similar in style with a drowsy jangle and a slight sense of being on the edge of emotionally defeated.

I was first tipped to Frankie thanks to a twitter conversation between two friends about a week ago. One crying out for Mac-DeMarco-like tunes [my personal fav] as he was stuck in a spiral of repeats and then my other friend on the west coast providing this gem [a new favorite]. Do check out the other demos he has floating around.

Hecho En Mexico is ambitious and complicated, but the music more than justifies the journey. The soundtrack features a mix of traditional sounds and modern Mexican alternative artists, including Carla Morrison, Julieta Venegas, Natalia Fourcade, Kinky, Molotov and more.
