Lyrics from Lucky You
You clean yourself to meet
The man who isn’t me
You’re putting on a shirt
A shirt I’ll never see
The letter’s in your coat
But no one’s in your head
Cause you’re too smart to remember
You’re too smart
Lucky you

SONG OF THE YEARMidnight City, by M83 captures and represents the song of 2012 for me. Which song is your 2012 fav?
Technically, wasn’t this song released in 2011, December 2011 specifically? I may be wrong about the release date, but it would definitely be a contender for Song of the Year 2012.
A YEAR IN MUSIC WITH THE FADER
Summing up a year listening to music is kind of like trying to talk about all the times you tied your shoelaces. Still, six editors at the FADER tried.
- Matthew Schnipper on accessible rock and romantic comedies.
- Amber Bravo on female musicians, emphasis on the musicians.
- Emilie Friedlander on falling in love, again.
- Naomi Zeicher In defense of falling apart in public.
- Duncan Cooper on Taylor Swift, Lil B and loving Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.
- Alex Frank calls Rihanna his woman of the year, for better or worse

Stars - Hold On When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It - The North (2012)
By far my favorite song on Stars new album (dropped today - Sept. 4, 2012).
I’ve been through the album 10+ times, in the past week, and I’m finding it to be a bit more mellow than previous offerings.
That being said, it’s a fantastic album and this is one of the more upbeat tunes — I can’t get enough of it!

Sleigh Bells - End of The Line (Official Music Video) - Reign Of Terror (2012)
Love it. One of my favorite songs from the Reign Of Terror LP now has an official music video.
End of the Line, a heavy-hearted tune, has an appropriately melancholy music video. In it, emotive and moody footage of Alexis Krauss is juxtaposed with clips of she and Derek Miller riding freely on BMX bikes.
Well directed by Derek Miller and Gregory Kohn.
Keep on the lookout, Sleigh Bells is on the road with AraabMuzik. Find tour dates here (via Pitchfork).
Catching them Wednesday night. Can’t wait!

Tennis this afternoon. Just delightful.
“…If I don’t use words
Then each sound goes unheard
Utterly senseless without nouns and verbs
But symbols suggest they are fit to possess
A purpose in function
That cannot be met
My better self still knows
That meaning comes and goes
What is it made?
I do not know
But meaning comes and goes…”
