Gung Ho - Twin Rays
The two Chinese characters forming the word Gung Ho are translated individually as “Work” and “Together”. Linguist Albert Moe studied both the origin and the usage in English of the phrase gung-ho. He concluded that the term is an “Americanism that is derived from the Chinese, but its several accepted American meanings have no resemblance whatever to the recognized meaning in the original language” further explained that “various linguistic uses, as they have developed in the United States, have been peculiar to American speech.” In Chinese, Moe concluded, “this is neither a slogan nor a battle cry; it is only a name for an organization.”

I would like to quote the writer from Billboard about this incident
“Mehdi Favéris-Essadi, the French producer better known as DJ Mehdi, has died at the age of 34, according to Pitchfork and confirmed by his publicist. The producer reportedly died after an undisclosed “accident.”
DJ Mehdi gained prominence in the French electro and house scene in the late 90s as a DJ for Different Teep, and recently became a staple of Ed Banger Records. He has worked with and remixed artists like Architecture in Helsinki, Chromeo and Miike Snow.
Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter recently reworked Mehdi’s single “Signatune,” which has sold 9,000 U.S. downloads according to Nielsen SoundScan. 2006 album “Lucky Boy” has sold just south of 1,000 copies in the U.S.”
R.I.P. DJ Mehdi.

Formed by singer-songwriter, Justin Vernon, Bon Iver is a manifestation of the talents of Michael Noyce, Sean Carey, and Matthew McCaughan and the musical variations of Justin Vernon.
A gentle hum of vocals and rolling of guitar creates a mellow, rich sound that invites the listener to world of subtle melodies and sullen love songs. Their latest album, self-titled Bon Iver, is simply majestic. Each represents a place, a new scene, and is fully developed. Each line filled with a feeling, a sense of being that hangs from each note and lyric. A beautiful follow up to his album , “For Emma Ages Ago”

MGMT “Kids”
Here’s the older version of “Kids” that was released in 2005, on the Time To Pretend EP. This, of course, was a few years before they became everything they are today (though I suppose at the most fundamental level, they are still the same band. I also suppose this is off topic and irrelevant, but I wanted to share this thought anyway).
I actually prefer both this version of “Kids”, as well as “Time To Pretend”, over their later iterations on Oracular Spectacular.
Why? Well, listen to the breakdown (or synth solo, whatever) in “Kids” and tell me that isn’t the most game-tastic victory song ever? It’s like they knew this song would propel them to stardom, and this was their preemptive, Final Fantasy inspired celebration.
Or maybe not. But I still like it better.
Slight difference, but essentially the same. That means it is still a good track IMO.
